The very popular Senior Health Fair is back once again following a break due to the pandemic. And, it could not be a better time to restart.

Fall is in the air, and it is now time to get vaccinated to combat the flu and, of course, COVID-19.

The Lackawanna County Commissioners are once again making it easy for area residents to do so. The County’s Community Outreach and Communications Departments and its Area Agency on Aging are conducting a Senior Health Fair and providing flu shots and COVID-19 booster shots in collaboration with DePietro’s Pharmacy and Hometown Health.

This free event is scheduled for Friday, October 14, from 10 am – 1 pm at The Electric City Trolley Museum, 300 Cliff Street, Scranton.

The fair, which is being sponsored by Geisinger, Traditional Home Health, C*Screen, Interim Home Health Care, One Point, Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, NeighborWorks NEPA, AFLAC, HomeTown Health, DePietro’s Pharmacy, Angels on Call, GHC Home Care, United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties, The Wright Center for Community Health, AETNA, PAM Health Specialty Hospital, Home Health Professional Hospice, and the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, will feature a total of 42 exhibitors, offering information on a variety of programs, services, living arrangements, legal information, sight and hearing data, transportation, and financial advice.

Flu and booster shots will be given continuously throughout the day by staff from DePietros and Hometown Health. Attendees will need to provide their insurance and/or Medicare cards and name as a means of matching them to the serum batch that they receive.

The guests will be able to visit all of the vendor displays, take part in the various medical screenings and other services being provided, and inspect the museum’s exhibits to gain an appreciation of our railroad past.

Trolley rides to PNC Field and back will be offered free-of-charge from 10:30 AM to 3 PM.

Bagged lunch tickets will be given out to the first 300 people.

UNICO Scranton Chapter will distribute coffee and donuts to the fair’s guests. The CEO Weinberg Food Bank will be doing cooking demonstrations on healthy food choices and preparation.
